The Champakulam Boat Race : starting of Boat racing season in Kerala

‘The Champakulam Moolam Boat Race ‘- one of the most crowd pulling entertainment sporting event of Kerala kick starts on July 14th at Chambakulam ,Alleppey . This time around ,our very own Kumarakom snake Boat shall take part in the ‘Champakulam Boat Race ‘ ‘Since this will be the Kumarakom Village boat club’s maiden snake boat race please extend your heart filled wishes and luck’.
Champakulam Boat Race is held every year at the Champakulam Lake in Alappuzha, Kerala. This is the first boat race of the Boat racing season of the state. The race is organized in the Malayalam month Midhunam on the moolam day, the day of the installation of the deity at the Sree Krishna Temple at Ambalappuzha. Champakulam Boat Race is held on the river Pampa,the holy river of ‘Sabari mala’.
Getting there:
Nearest railway station: Alappuzha about 26 km away.
Nearest airport: Cochin International Airport, about 85 km from Alappuzha.

I tried sending u an email on your gamil ID, but it bounced. Am a travel writer and photographer n would like to come shoot this race. So what is the schedule for the preparations? When is the actually race- what date? Can u help with the stay n all? What about the weather…rains?? And cost?
If you could answer these queries, i can start planning my visit.
