“Vllamkali” is the traditional boat race festival of Kerala. The spectacular snake boat races have become so popular that they have come to symbolise Kerala worldwide. It is mainly conducted during the season of the harvest festival Onam. The Nehru Trophy Vallamkali is the most the biggest and the most popular boat race event in Kerala .that is held every year at Punnamaada Lake in Alappuzha  in August.
